Kohima: Nagaland’s Wushu team concluded the Wushu competition of the 3rd North East Games 2024 with an impressive tally of eight medals, comprising one gold, three silver, and four bronze.
Yoto Chizo emerged as a standout performer, clinching the only gold medal in the 75 kg event for Nagaland.
This achievement marks a significant improvement for the Wushu team compared to the previous edition, where they secured six bronze medals.
The home advantage at Chumoukedima district coupled with stellar performances contributed to their success in the 3rd edition of the Games.
The two-day Wushu competition, held at Sovima Futsal ground, saw the participation of 58 players from various states across the Northeast region.
Despite formidable competition, Vipu Zhimomi, Nupa Kiho, and Kekhrieneitso Angami displayed commendable performances, securing silver medals in their respective categories.
However, it was Yoto Chizo who stole the spotlight with a stellar victory in the final match, defeating Sanjenbam Rohit Meitei from Manipur and bringing home the coveted gold medal.
Additionally, Akivito Yeptho, Geeta Narjinary, Kivikali Magh, and Lipokjongshi Imchen contributed to Nagaland’s medal haul by securing bronze medals in their events.
