Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday inaugurated what officials described as the Northeast’s first AI-enabled Career Intelligence Hub at Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Imphal.
Established under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), the hub aims to provide students with technology-driven career guidance, personalised counselling and information on emerging professional opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the initiative would help students understand their abilities, explore career options and prepare for changing professional demands as artificial intelligence increasingly transforms different sectors.
He thanked Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, the Education Department and the school’s faculty for supporting the initiative.
Addressing students, Singh urged them to prioritise education and avoid becoming involved in agitations during periods of crisis. He called for dialogue as the preferred means of resolving differences and restoring peace in the state.
He also highlighted the importance of Classes XI and XII in shaping students’ academic and professional futures, stressing that honesty and humanity should remain guiding values.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the state-level 32nd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026-27, organised by the Manipur Upliftment Centre in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Manipur.
The event, held under the theme “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being”, featured science projects by students from across the state. Singh inspected the exhibits and encouraged participants to pursue scientific curiosity, creativity and innovation.
A total of 39 student group leaders from schools across Manipur’s 12 districts have been shortlisted for the state-level congress.
The programme was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, Education (Schools) Director Ng. Bhogendra Meitei, school principal Dr Vinita Devi Elangbam and other officials, teachers and students.
