Guwahati: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken strict action against several schools across the country, disaffiliating 20 of them and downgrading the affiliation of three others due to various malpractices.
Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, made the announcement on Friday, highlighting the grave violations discovered during surprise inspections.
Gupta revealed that the inspections aimed to ensure compliance with CBSE’s affiliation and examination bye-laws. Shockingly, several schools were found to be engaged in deceitful practices such as enrolling dummy students, admitting ineligible candidates, and failing to maintain proper records.
“After thorough inquiry, it has been decided to disaffiliate 20 schools and downgrade three schools,” Gupta was quoted by the Press Trust of India.
Among the disaffiliated schools, five are located in Delhi, three in Uttar Pradesh, two each in Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra, and one each in Jammu and Kashmir, Dehradun, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh.

Additionally, affiliation for three schools has been downgraded, indicating a range of penalties imposed by CBSE in response to the malpractices uncovered.
The affected schools are situated in Delhi, Punjab, and Assam.
