Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) president and Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has said his government is working towards establishing what he described as “God’s kingdom” in the state, while opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) vice president and former Home Minister Lalchamliana accused him of authoritarian rule and compared him to Adolf Hitler.
Addressing the ZPM’s second General Assembly at Vanapa Hall on Monday, Lalduhoma said establishing “God’s kingdom” through governance was central to the party’s political vision.
He highlighted the government’s anti-corruption measures, saying recruitment was being conducted through proper procedures and no government work was being undertaken without work orders.
Lalduhoma also cited measures relating to subsidised rice distribution, land records and pensions, claiming that irregularities in these areas were being addressed.
He said Mizoram had granted general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) within 20 days of his government taking office and highlighted the formation of the Mizoram State Project Monitoring Committee to scrutinise government works.
He further claimed that fraudulent Land Settlement Certificates were no longer being issued, ration card reforms had improved the accuracy of rice distribution and areca nut smuggling had been stopped.
Defending his government’s record, Lalduhoma challenged anyone with evidence of corruption involving ministers or MLAs to come forward with proof, saying those found guilty should face legal consequences.
“We may have many shortcomings in our work of governing the state, but in every corner of the state, God’s kingdom is gradually being established,” Lalduhoma said.
Meanwhile, Lalchamliana criticised the ZPM government while addressing an MNF programme at Khatla South YMA Hall on September 26.
He said the MNF was working to regain power in the 2028 Assembly election and called on party workers to put aside past differences and strengthen the organisation.
Lalchamliana accused the ZPM government of failing to fulfil its promises and alleged that Lalduhoma had exercised powers beyond the limits of the party constitution. He also criticised the Chief Minister over the allocation of departments and accused him of making false statements concerning Article 371G.
Lalchamliana then sharply criticised the Chief Minister, saying, “Hitler is ruling Mizoram at present, and we must remove him.”
He called on MNF workers to strengthen the party while upholding Mizo values, nationalism, honesty and hard work, and said the party would continue working towards returning to government in 2028.
