Shillong: The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC), Nongtrai Unit, has alerted authorities after two persons were detained at Nongtrai on September 26 following information about their suspected entry from Bangladesh through a restricted area.
An FIR, numbered 15(09)2026, has been registered at Mawsynram Police Station in connection with the case.
According to the FIR, the two persons, identified as Jhinuk Hijrani, 22, and Priyanka Kumari, 20, were intercepted while travelling in a vehicle bearing registration number ML 05 AC 5971.
The case has been registered under Sections 12(1)(a) and 12(1)(c) of the Passport Act, 1967. The investigation has been entrusted to Sub-Inspector Rochestar Warshong of Mawsynram Police Station.
The HYC has urged the authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation to establish the nationality of the two persons and verify their travel documents. It has also called for the route allegedly used for their entry to be examined and for investigators to determine whether any other individuals or networks were involved in facilitating their movement.

The council said the identity, nationality and circumstances surrounding the two persons should be established through due process and a transparent investigation.
The HYC also appealed to residents, particularly those living in border and other vulnerable areas, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activity to the nearest police station or concerned authorities.
