Kohima: Kohima Police seized 7,740 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), estimated to be worth around Rs 50 lakh, during routine checking within the jurisdiction of Zubza Police Station on Monday.
According to Kohima Police, a transport carrier was intercepted at around 2:35 pm as part of intensified checking and an ongoing drive against spurious IMFL and alcohol.
Upon checking the vehicle and verifying its contents, police found 7,740 bottles of IMFL, each with a capacity of 750 ml.
The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway to trace the source of the consignment and establish the identities of the alleged supplier, owner and intended buyer, police said.
Police also found a “BSF Duty” marking on the vehicle’s windshield. According to the police, the marking appeared to have been used to create a misleading impression and evade suspicion during checking.

The use of the marking is being examined as part of the investigation to determine the modus operandi allegedly used to transport the consignment, police said.
