The Dhemaji railway station is set to receive a facelift worth Rs 6.34 crore in the interim budget 2024-25 due to the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), the NFR said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Dhemaji station is one of the 60 stations in the Northeast that will receive a makeover under the ABSS scheme. The state-of-the-art facilities will include AC waiting halls, free Wi-Fi, restrooms with modern amenities like lifts and escalators, executive lounges and more.
The new station building will also have a separate toilet block for men and women, with improved parking facilities and beautification of the circulating area. All platforms will be covered with shelter and resurfaced with marble stone and tiles for easy movement of passengers.

An entry-exit path will also be developed to ensure improved accessibility to the station. Tenders have already been awarded for the project. Work for other improvements, including the installation of a coach guidance board, a train information display system, an extension of platforms, and the provision of easy access water booths for the impaired is also in progress, the NFR said.
