Yupia: Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up to host the final rounds of the 77th edition of the National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy-2024, scheduled to take place at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium here from February 21 to March 9.
With the dates approaching, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday visited the stadium to oversee the preparations for the prestigious event.
In his interaction with the officials post the visit, he urged them to ensure that the championship becomes a memorable experience for all participants.
Khandu also met with the Arunachal football team and encouraged them to deliver their best performance on the field.
He also unveiled the official jersey of the team. As the president of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA), the chief minister later met honorary members of the association to discuss the championship’s arrangements.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament, Khandu also held discussions with the local administration, relevant departments, and police officials.
The event will feature day and night matches played under floodlights and adhere to international standards.
The chief minister was joined by dignitaries, including state legislative assembly speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona, MLA Tana Hali Tara, Papum Pare deputy commissioner Jiken Bomjen and SP Taru Gussar.
