The launch of the SpaceX Crew-10 mission is scheduled for February 2025. Four astronauts will take off on board, three from NASA – Commander Anne McClain, Pilot Nichole Ayers, Mission Specialist Takuya Onishi, and Mission Specialist Kirill Peskov – and one from JAXA.
The total duration of the stay on the International Space Station (ISS) is still being decided, but NASA officials have said that it will be “long.” The astronauts will conduct various scientific experiments and test space equipment to advance human technology for future missions.
McClain is a Spokane, Washington, native and a former US Army colonel. She has more than 2,300 flight hours in 24 helicopters and has served in various roles at NASA including branch chief and space station assistant to the chief of NASA’s Astronaut Office. Ayers is a major in the US Air Force and a graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. She has more than 1,400 total flight hours, including more than 200 in combat. Onishi is a Japanese astronaut who was selected by the JAXA in 2009. He became the first Japanese astronaut to robotically capture the Cygnus spacecraft. He has more than 113 days of stay on the ISS. Peskov is a Roscosmos cosmonaut who was selected in 2018. He has previously served as a test cosmonaut and has experience in skydiving, zero-gravity training, scuba diving, and wilderness survival.
