Aizawl: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Peoples Conference (PC) Party has unveiled its candidate for the electoral battleground, nominating Rita Malsawmi as their MP candidate.
The announcement was made on Monday at the Kolasib MJA Press Club.
Addressing the gathering, party president Vanlalruata outlined the party’s vision for transformative representation, stating that if elected, Rita Malsawmi would establish an MP office in Aizawl. Emphasizing the need for accessible representation, Vanlalruata expressed confidence that Malsawmi’s commitment to local engagement would set a precedent for all MPs to have offices within their constituencies.
Rita Malsawmi, in her address during the candidature announcement, articulated her aspiration to serve as more than just a representative for Mizoram but as an advocate for all Zo descendants and Christians across India. “I will not just be an MP for Mizoram but an MP for all Zo descendants and all Christians in India,” she affirmed. Malsawmi underscored her dedication to advancing Mizoram’s progress, ensuring the safety of Zo tribes, and championing the fight against Hindutva ideologies.
With a diverse background spanning music, modelling, journalism, and production, Rita Malsawmi brings a wealth of experience to her candidacy.
Formerly associated with a band in Kolkata and having worked as a model and DDK news correspondent, she currently serves as the producer at ZTS Audio & Visual Productions. Additionally, Malsawmi has held the position of secretary for ZORO General Headquarters for over a decade.
