Eligible NEET-UG 2026 candidates have a limited opportunity to secure admission to the MBBS programme at Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College (HLSGMC), Gangtok, for the 2026–27 academic session.
The Government of Sikkim has invited applications for five Society Seats in the MBBS programme at the state’s first government medical college. The online application process opened on September 23, 2026, and eligible candidates have until September 30, 2026, at 12 noon to submit their applications.
For students looking to pursue medical education in the Northeast, HLSGMC offers the opportunity to study at an institution established through a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Sikkim. The college was set up with the objective of expanding access to affordable, quality medical education while also contributing to the strengthening of healthcare services in the region.
The institution is named after Helen Lepcha, fondly remembered as Savitri Devi, a renowned freedom fighter who was born in 1902 in Sangmoo, South Sikkim. The college seeks to carry forward her legacy of service, compassion and commitment to the welfare of society.
With only five Society Seats available for the 2026–27 academic session, eligible NEET-UG 2026 candidates are encouraged to complete the application process within the stipulated deadline.
