Kohima: Nagaland is set to host its first dedicated technology, gaming and innovation expo as the Nagaland E-Sports Society (NES) organises the Tech & Gaming Expo (TXG) 2026 on August 28 and 29 at the NBCC Convention Hall in Kohima.
Organised in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland, the two-day event aims to bring together competitive gaming, game development, technology, education, careers and the creator economy on a single platform.
Billed as the state’s first professional technology and gaming expo, TXG 2026 seeks to connect esports with game development, technology exhibitions, career opportunities, education and digital entrepreneurship. The organisers said the event is envisioned as an annual platform that will help position Nagaland as an emerging gaming and innovation hub in the Northeast. The theme for the inaugural edition is “Where Technology, Gaming and Culture Converge.”
Unlike a conventional esports tournament, the expo has been designed as a multidisciplinary event combining competitive gaming with technology showcases, career guidance, innovation, entrepreneurship and creative performances.
According to the organisers, the technologies driving modern gaming—such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and real-time graphics—are also powering the wider digital economy. By bringing together students, developers, startups, creators, employers and government stakeholders, the expo aims to create opportunities for skill development, mentorship, networking and industry exposure within the state.
The event will feature three major competitive gaming categories, each offering a prize pool of Rs 1 lakh. These include the Inter-College Championship for colleges across Nagaland, an Open MOBA 5v5 tournament on Mobile Legends, and a series of mini tournaments featuring EA Sports FC 26, Clash Royale, Tekken 8, Dirt Rally 2.0, Street Fighter 6 and Ludo King. Matches will be livestreamed with professional shoutcasters and broadcast-quality production.
Beyond esports competitions, the expo will host a Game Development Showcase, where local developers and students can present their projects, technology demonstrations and innovation concepts.
Career discussions featuring industry experts, panel discussions, workshops, mentoring sessions and interactive Q&A sessions will also be organised to help students and young professionals explore opportunities in the gaming and technology sectors.
Visitors can also experience interactive gaming zones, product showcases and technology exhibitions, while a cosplay competition featuring costume contests, performances and photo zones will add a creative element to the event.
The expo will also include an innovation hub and dedicated networking spaces for startups, creators, exhibitors and vendors.
