Dimapur: Nagaland is set to host the Nagaland International Coffee Seminar on October 1-2, 2024, at Hotel Acacia in Dimapur.
The two-day event, themed “Beyond the Brew: Future Perspectives on Sustainable Coffee,” is being organised by the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
According to the organisers, the seminar’s key objectives include knowledge exchange, networking, promotion, and the sustainable development of the coffee sector in Nagaland.
The event will provide a collaborative platform for entrepreneurs, stakeholders, farmers, and government representatives to share insights, highlight the unique qualities of Nagaland’s coffee producers, and explore strategies to ensure the sector’s growth and sustainability.
International experts from South Africa, such as Pieter Vermulen, founder of Noble Cause in Cape Town; Jaco Janse Van Rensburg, business consultant and entrepreneur; and Calvin Botes, founder of Merkava Coffee, will be attending as key resource persons.
Along with international speakers, local coffee entrepreneurs and experts will also contribute, including Vivito Yeptho, co-founder of Nagaland Coffee Pvt. Ltd.; Lichan Humtsoe, founder of Ete Coffee, Kohima; Langnyei Angh, director of Daintyvil Enterprise LLP and PhD scholar in Agricultural Chemistry and Soil Science; and Zakietsono Jamir, proprietor of Coffee Lady.
The seminar will feature a keynote address by Mercy Epao, Joint Secretary of MSME, Government of India, while Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir will be the guest of honor.
The event is expected to foster collaboration between local and international stakeholders, discuss innovations, and explore the potential of coffee as a driver of sustainable development in Nagaland.
