Kohima: Nagaland-based PenThrill Publication’s latest addition ‘Destined Apart’, written by Wedekhro Naro, was officially launched in Kohima on Saturday. This marks the author’s fourth book.
The book was released by assistant professor and controller of examinations, Kohima Science College, Teisovi Gerrard Meyase, in the presence of friends and family of the author at Han’ei Sizzlers Cafe, D Block, Kohima.
During the ceremony, the poet shared his journey, expressing his long-standing desire to become a published author as he grew up. He revealed how it took 12 years and numerous attempts to approach sponsors before finally finding success in 2018 with the support of Publisher Vishü Rita Krocha.
Naro described his writing style as a celebration of randomness and creativity, refusing to confine himself to a specific genre. He emphasised the simplicity of his storytelling technique, deeply rooted in local contexts.
Sharing about the book, Naro said that ‘Destined Apart’ holds a personal touch, as he dedicates the book to a friend in Kuwait who inspired him to write it.
Reflecting on his modest beginnings as a waiter in a Kohima, followed by diverse experiences in Mumbai and Kuwait, Naro expressed his determination to continue writing, even as he prepares for a new chapter in Saudi Arabia.
Special guest of the ceremony, Meyase expressed admiration for the author’s fearlessness. Wishing the author the best, Meyase hoped that the author would come up with more books in the future.
Vishü Rita Krocha, the publisher, lauded Naro’s consistency in bringing out thought-provoking works. She acknowledged his evolution as a writer, with ‘Destined Apart’ standing out as his best work yet.
Krocha urged continued support for writers like Naro and emphasised the growing literary landscape in Nagaland.

“When we talk about writing and publishing in Nagaland, it is clearly dominated by women and while we’ve also had and still have male writers who wrote extensively and tremendously well, the subject matter that they deal with are seemingly rather more serious. And very few male writers deal with the kind of subjects that Wedekhro writes about especially in the context of our state,” she shared.
She said that writers rarely continue their storytelling by writing books, but Naro stands out as a hard-working person, consistent in his pursuit for writing.
His previous books include “True Love Keeps Moving”, “The Unfinished Story”, and “The Stubborn Heart”.
