Nagaland Govt to strictly implement ‘no work no pay’ rule for employees

Kohima: While the implementation of the ‘No work no pay’ rule in government offices isnt new, the Nagaland government is once again reviewing the doctrine as employees agree to strictly implement and abide by the rule, as the COVID-19 situation in the state improves as per government.

During the monthly meeting of the Administrative Heads of Departments (AHoDs) and Heads of Departments (HoDs) chaired by Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam at the Secretariat Conference Hall on Thursday, the issue of improving the attendance of officers and staff in the Secretariat and Directorate was discussed at length.

The Chief Secretary had directed all government offices to start functioning normally as the COVID-19 situation in the state has improved, a DIPR report stated.

Alam highlighted that since the state government spends huge amounts of money on salaries, if the government employees fail to attend the offices, their remuneration should be withheld.

At the meeting, the government officials deliberated that the attendance and office timings of the employees should be strictly monitored. The house also agreed on implementing ‘No Work No Pay’ with immediate effect.

The Chief Secretary also requested the AHoDs and HoDs to pay special attention to cases that are pending in the court pertaining to the state government. He said para-wise comments are to be prepared and the government lawyers briefed earnestly so that the state is in a better position to defend the cases.

At the meeting, CEO of the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Alemtemshi Jamir also informed that the state will be organising a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conclave, likely in the month of April.

As the state government is fund constrained, he said that there is a need to attract corporates for the development of the state. In this regard, he urged the various departments to produce ideas, plans and work out various projects to be submitted to the companies.
