Guwahati: The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with Assam set to witness three phases of voting. Commencing on April 19 and culminating on June 1, the elections will witness voters across the nation exercising their franchise, with results slated for announcement on June 4.
In Assam, the electoral process will unfold in three phases, reflecting the state’s significant role in shaping the political landscape. In the first phase on April 19, voters in Assam will cast their ballots across five parliamentary constituencies: Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat.
Subsequently, on April 26, the second phase of elections in Assam will cover constituencies including Darrang-Udalguri, Diphu, Karimganj, Silchar, and Nagaon.
Finally, the third phase on May 7 will witness polling in Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Barpeta, and Guwahati constituencies.
