Arunachal CM Pema Khandu expressed deep concern on Thursday over reports of heavy involvement of ‘money culture’ in the run-up to the assembly elections.
Speaking at a BJP rally in Keyi Panyor district, Khandu urged the people of Yachuli constituency to help curb the “money culture” in elections, emphasizing its detrimental impact on development.
“I had previously appealed to the people of Yachuli constituency to put an end to the ‘money culture,’ but it’s disheartening to learn that it has escalated during this election,” Khandu stated, highlighting the urgent need to address the issue.
He also criticized opposition candidates for misleading voters with promises of government jobs, emphasizing that such tactics are misleading and detrimental to the electorate’s interests.
Furthermore, Khandu refuted claims of a rift within the BJP, dismissing rumors spread by some opposition candidates about being part of alternative factions within the party.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, also addressing the rally, outlined the BJP government’s plans to develop Keyi Panyor as a model district under the leadership of BJP candidate Taba Tedir.
Khandu also condemned attempts by opposition parties to exploit religious sentiments for political gains, asserting that the people of Arunachal Pradesh prioritize development-oriented leadership over religious politics.
