Aizawl: The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has called on Chief Minister Lalduhoma to publicly respond to allegations raised in the resignation letter of senior Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leader Bualhranga.
Bualhranga, a senior ZPM functionary and founding member of the Val Upa Council (VUC), resigned from the council on September 21. The VUC is a senior advisory body within the ZPM that was established before the party came to power and comprises experienced party members.
According to the MPCC, Bualhranga raised four broad issues in his resignation letter. Two concerned the functioning of the government, while the other two included allegations relating to the chief minister’s conduct concerning corruption and women.
The Congress said the allegations were significant as they had been raised by a senior ZPM member who had been closely associated with the party and its government.
The MPCC said the resignation letter raised questions about the functioning of the ZPM-led government and whether it had met the expectations of voters who elected it in the 2023 Assembly election.
The Congress also described the allegations concerning Lalduhoma’s conduct as serious and said they warranted a public response. It said allegations of this nature, if left unaddressed, could affect the image of Mizoram.
The party questioned why concerns about the chief minister and the functioning of the government had not been made public earlier, arguing that Bualhranga’s resignation had now brought the issues into the public domain.
The MPCC has demanded that Lalduhoma respond to the allegations and clarify his position before the people of Mizoram.
