Agartala: Thousands of Congress activists marched through Agartala on Monday, accusing the BJP-led Tripura government of failing to prevent crimes against women and overseeing a “total collapse of law and order.”
Led by all three Congress MLAs, including Congress Working Committee member Sudip Roy Barman and AICC in-charge Christopher Tilak, the rally began at Agartala Press Club and ended with a Dharna in front of the Police Headquarters.
The Congress leaders criticized the police for becoming “mute spectators” in the face of rising violence and demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for his “administrative failures.”
Speaking at the rally, Christopher Tilak claimed the violence in Tripura was “state-sponsored” and vowed to intensify protests across the state, targeting district-level administrations.

Tilak further accused the police of “acting like the British era” and serving “political masters” instead of protecting the people. He criticized the government for diverting youth towards violence instead of addressing issues like unemployment.
Sudip Roy Barman also highlighted the surge in crimes against women and children, alleging that the police remained silent in the face of increasing incidents of rape, gang rape, arson, and murder. Barman vowed that Congress would not remain silent in the face of such atrocities.
