Guwahati: Senior government medical officer Dr Biplab Kanti Dasgupta who was assistant director in the health services department succumbed to COVID-19 in Kolkata on Sunday. He had tested positive a week ago, The 60-year-old late doctor’s wife also tested positive for the deadly virus and is undergoing treatment.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted remembering his sacrifice. She said, “We have lost Dr Biplab Kanti Dasgupta Assistant Director, Health Services, West Bengal in the early hours of today.
He was Assistant Director of Health Services, Central Medical Stores. We are deeply pained with his untimely demise.”
His sacrifice for the cause of ailing humanity will ever be in our hearts and will make our COVID warriors fight the deadly virurs with even greater determination.

West Bengal has so far reported 611 coronavirus cases, including 105 recoveries and 18 deaths.
