Nagaland revises CM Health Insurance registration norms

Kohima: The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS), under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has revised registration procedures under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS), discontinuing emergency approval for beneficiaries under the General Category (GC) while retaining the provision for the Employee and Pensioner Category (EP).

According to an Office Memorandum issued by the NHPS on October 31, 2026, the provision for emergency approval under CMHIS General Category will stand discontinued with immediate effect. However, the emergency approval mechanism will continue for beneficiaries registering under the Employee and Pensioner Category.

The memorandum also introduced revised guidelines for the registration of single-member households under both CMHIS (EP) and CMHIS (GC).

Under the revised provisions, registration of single-member households will not ordinarily be permitted. However, exceptions may be considered in cases where an individual is the sole member of a household, subject to the submission of an affidavit sworn before a Notary Public or Magistrate.

The affidavit must be based on a declaration issued by the Chairman of the Village Council, Ward Chairman or Gaon Bura (GB), as applicable. Applicants are required to upload the affidavit during registration for verification and approval.

The revised provisions have come into effect from the date of issue of the memorandum.
