Meghalaya UDP’s decline due to internal rifts, not personal resentment: Paul Lyngdoh

Shillong: Meghalaya Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh has been reassigned the Tourism and Social Welfare portfolios, which he held before being dropped from the Cabinet during last year’s reshuffle. He has also been given charge of Arts and Culture.

The allocation comes days after Lyngdoh was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister following his switch from the United Democratic Party (UDP) to the National People’s Party (NPP).

Lyngdoh had lost his ministerial position during a Cabinet reshuffle last year, when the UDP replaced him and Kyrmen Shylla with party president Metbah Lyngdoh and Lahkmen Rymbui.

In the latest portfolio allocation, Timothy D Shira has been assigned Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Power, and Water Resources.

Sanbor Shullai has been given charge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Fisheries, Taxation, Legal Metrology, and Printing and Stationery.

The latest allocation partially modifies the earlier notification issued by the Cabinet Affairs Department on September 16, 2025.
