Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar spoke at the Global Spirituality Mahotsav in Hyderabad. In his address, he highlighted the country’s role as a proud champion of pluralism.
The Vice President spoke about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) which aims to provide relief to the persecuted minorities without infringing on the rights of the existing citizens. He also highlighted that Bharat is an “obvious global spiritual centre” and a place for spiritual growth.
“Our religion, ethics, philosophy, literature, art, architecture, dance, music, and even our polity and socio-economic order have been constantly influenced and moulded by the inspiring force of spirituality,” he said.
He also drew attention to Swami Vivekananda’s role in introducing India’s spiritual wisdom to the world. Swami Vivekananda’s appeal for “Harmony and Peace, and not Dissention” is something that the world needs to pay attention to, he said.

Stating that Mahatma Gandhi’s wisdom has served as a guiding light to humanity in the face of technological advancements and material pursuits, Dhankhar quoted Mahatma Gandhi, who said, “The Earth has enough for everyone’s need, but not for everyone’s greed.”
“Spirituality is an impactful antidote to this human greed,” he said.
He also highlighted how Bharat is a beacon of hope and enlightenment in a world that is plagued by rising geopolitical tensions, repression, intolerance, and injustice. He urged everyone to preserve the values of diversity and tolerance.
