Kohima: In a move aimed at enhancing educational standards in Nagaland, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Adviser to the Directorate of School Education, disclosed that the state is set to implement the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) curriculum across all government schools this year.
Speaking at the valedictory program of ECCE & FLN District Master Trainers at Mt Tabor Retreat Centre on Saturday, Yhome, as the special guest, reiterated the department’s dedication to elevating educational benchmarks through continued training initiatives.
Underlining the necessity of tailoring education parameters to accommodate India’s diverse educational landscape, Yhome emphasised Nagaland’s pioneering role in curriculum development for childhood education, stressing the imperative of sustained focus on education within the state.
Yhome further emphasised the crucial role of early childhood education, advocating for a comprehensive approach to education from the formative years onwards.
Highlighting the dynamism within the Department of School Education (DoSE), Yhome showcased the vitality of its workforce, with a notable 41 percent of employees falling within the age bracket of 31 to 41, indicating a robust workforce prepared to spearhead educational reforms.
Moving beyond the fixation on examination results, Yhome championed the cause of holistic education, urging stakeholders, including the state’s 5000-plus teachers, to collaboratively enhance the education system.
While acknowledging that the fruits of educational initiatives might require time to materialize, Dr. Yhome stressed the significance of maintaining consistent developmental efforts.
In a rallying call to educators, Yhome urged them to embrace innovation, recognising education as a transformative force capable of empowering individuals and communities. He implored village leaders and stakeholders to provide unwavering support to teachers, acknowledging their pivotal role in community development.

The program, chaired by joint mission director, Samagra Shiksha, Dr Bijano Murry, included feedback sessions from various stakeholders, including CDPO Aboi Mon from the Department of Social Welfare, and representatives from educational institutions.
Deputy mission director & program coordinator Samagra Shiksha, Kelhikha Kenye, summarised the training proceedings and led the administering of a pledge wherein trainees committed to dedicating themselves to their vocation, utilising their skills to offer optimal instruction, and embracing continuous learning.
