Who is Savio Rodrigues, the journalist obsessed with Lalduhoma’s September 2024 speech?
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma

Aizawl: The state unit of the BJP party in Mizoram has voiced strong criticism against the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) party, accusing them of replicating the practices of previous governments instead of ushering in a new era of governance as promised.

According to a BJP official, there was hope among the people for a fresh start with the ZPM party coming to power. However, they lamented that the ZPM party appears to be adopting the same style and methods of the old government, which they deem disrespectful to the public.

The official highlighted instances where ministers’ speeches at the ZPM party office suggested that departmental work would be allocated to ZPM party members, mirroring the practices of other parties. This, they argue, undermines the notion of a government for the people and instead portrays it as a government for the party’s benefit.

Expressing disappointment, the BJP official noted that the people of Mizoram had rejected both the Mizo National Front (MNF) and the Congress in the hope of a new system of governance. They recalled assurances made by the Chief Minister before the elections that the ZPM party would not follow the practices of its predecessors. However, it appears that these assurances have not been upheld, leading to disillusionment among the public.

Furthermore, BJP Mizoram criticized the prevalent obsession with political parties in Mizoram, suggesting that this fixation is holding the state back. They emphasized the need for a shift in focus towards issues of governance and development rather than partisan politics.
