Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have made significant strides in curbing illicit activities, arresting four individuals in separate operations across the state’s fringe and vulnerable areas.
In a recent official report, it was disclosed that two members affiliated with the outlawed outfit PREPAK (Pro) were apprehended on Tuesday.
Identified as Naoroibam Joyshangker alias Loyumba alias Khouhang, 39, from Lairikyengbam Leikai, and Thingom Suresh alias Boy, 38, from Khurai Chaithabi Leirak in Imphal East, the duo was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with two magazines, a .32 pistol with one magazine, six live ammunition, and nine blank cartridges.
Another significant arrest was made on Wednesday, where a self-styled Sergeant Major of the proscribed group KCP (Noyon), Thoudam Nanao Singh alias Chingsanglakpa alias Putra, 43, hailing from Waithou area of Thoubal district, was detained. Authorities seized a .32 pistol, along with a magazine and six live rounds from his possession.
In a parallel operation, security forces nabbed an individual identified as Nangzading, 27, from Suangdai under Churachandpur district. During the search, they uncovered 50 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar.
These concerted efforts by security forces demonstrate a firm commitment to maintaining law and order in Manipur, thwarting the nefarious activities of insurgents and disrupting the flow of illicit substances across the region.
