Imphal: The All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) has issued a fervent call for collective prayer to address the persistent unrest plaguing Manipur. Scheduled for May 3, the prayer fellowship coincides with the one-year anniversary of the violence in the state.
The event will take place at the Tangkhul Baptist Church in Dewlahland, Imphal, commencing at 10 am.
Rev. Simon Raomai, President of AMCO, expressed deep concern over the ongoing ethnic strife that has engulfed Manipur since May 3, 2023.
Despite the passage of seasons, the state continues to grapple with unresolved tensions, lacking forgiveness, reconciliation, or lasting solutions between conflicting communities.
Drawing from the scripture, Rev. Raomai referenced Jeremiah 8:15 and 20, lamenting the absence of peace and healing in Manipur. He pointed out the pervasive atmosphere of fear and turmoil, with countless lives lost and many displaced individuals seeking refuge in relief camps.
AMCO also highlighted the distressing toll on religious institutions during the crisis, noting the destruction of approximately 369 churches and numerous temples across the state.
Considering all these realities, AMCO is organising a prayer fellowship for peace in Manipur on May 3, it stated.
