The Indian Army’s Red Shield Division has provided a 10,000-litre water storage facility to a village in Leimakhong in Kangpokpi district of Manipur under its Military Civic Action programme, Operation Sadbhavana.
An Army official said the facility would benefit about 35 families who face water shortages when the flow drops during the dry season. Without adequate storage, residents had relied on a continuous water supply and sometimes walked to fetch water from available sources.
The Army said the new facility would allow the community to store water and use it when the flow decreases.
