Kohima: The Isak-Muivah led NSCN-IM has alerted its offices operating in Manipur about an alleged illegal taxation by the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) in the Naga areas.
“It has come to the knowledge of the government that the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) Pambei is demanding 10% to every departments in the Southern Nagalim,” a directive issued by the NSCN-IM on March 11 read.
As per the direction given by the group’s home minister (kilo kilonser), the order was issued to all the CAOS, EOS, POs, President and Commanding Officers to immediately check and prevent such illegal activities by any other faction/group in and around the Naga inhabited areas.
Recently, the NSCN-IM questioned if the government of India was trying to incite communal war between the Meiteis and the Nagas.
The group had expressed its strong opposition to the establishment of a UNLF (MPA) designated camp in Naga territory in Manipur.

The setting up of such a camp without the consent or knowledge of the Naga public was viewed as a reckless intrusion.
“UNLF designated camp in Naga territory must be shifted immediately,” the NSCN-IM had said.
