Kohima: The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions surrounding the disputed Kezoltsa area between the Southern Angamis in Nagaland and the Mao community in Manipur.
While refraining from passing judgment on the merits of the case, the GNF acknowledged the longstanding discussions and negotiations between the parties, including input from leaders and elders of various Naga public organisations.
In a statement issued on Monday, the GNF urged all concerned parties to exercise utmost caution and approach the situation with compassion. Emphasising the shared ancestral homeland of all Nagas, the forum highlighted the collective responsibility to preserve the land and foster mutual respect and cooperation during times of conflict.
The GNF called upon the Southern Angami Public Organisation to withdraw the Quit Notice and urged the Mao Council to ensure the prompt withdrawal of security forces from the disputed area.
Additionally, both organisations were encouraged to explore innovative strategies for dispute resolution, emphasizing patience and mutual concern for the common good.
