Assam: Renowned writer Mayur Bora embarks on US lecture tour

Renowned writer and public speaker Sri Mayur Bora will soon embark on a journey to the United States of America. Set to commence on June 14, his visit will feature him as the keynote speaker in a series of lectures spanning June and July. Bora’s insightful talks will captivate audiences, delving into diverse topics from literature to cultural exchange.

On June 29, he will take the stage as the keynote speaker at the 45th Assam Association of North America (AANA) Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. His journey will then lead him to New Jersey, where he will delve into the egalitarian principles espoused by Srimanta Sankaradeva. At the AMU Alumni Association Central Convention in Atlanta, Sri Bora will shed light on educational challenges faced by minorities in Assam. Engaging with audiences across San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago, he will share his insights and foster meaningful connections.

Earlier today, a delegation from the Guwahati Literature Festival visited Sri Bora at his residence in Panjabari, Guwahati. Led by Working President Gajen Kalita and Secretary Abid Azad, the team presented Bora with a bouquet and an Asomiya gamocha, a traditional Assamese scarf, expressing their best wishes for his upcoming journey. Bora, who serves as an advisor to the Guwahati Literature Festival, expressed gratitude for the warm gesture.

Upon his return, Sri Mayur Bora will be honored for his significant contributions to Assamese literature. The Guwahati Literary Festival 2024, scheduled for November 8-10 at the NEF College Campus in Guwahati, will dedicate a special session to celebrate his literary impact. This session will explore Bora’s work from various perspectives, paying tribute to his rich body of literature.
