Dibrugarh: More than 72 hours after a cloudburst and flash flood hit the Pasu Pani camp in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley district, there has been no trace of the five Indian Army personnel who went missing on Friday (Aug 14) evening.
According to officials, rescue and search operations have been underway, but teams have yet to find any trace of the missing soldiers.
The five personnel are from the 5th Grenadiers.
“Two other soldiers were rescued, but intensive ground, aerial and drone search operations continue with no trace of the remaining five soldiers. Coordinated search and rescue operations are presently underway to locate and evacuate affected personnel from the area,” an official said.
Army aviation assets have been deployed to augment the rescue effort and facilitate immediate medical evacuation, if required.
All available resources are being deployed in a coordinated rescue and relief operation.
Search teams from the 5th Grenadiers have been deployed, while personnel from the 58th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), 62 RCC of the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), Arunachal Pradesh Police and local volunteers have joined the operation.
