Guwahati: Millions of social media users lost access to their Facebook and Instagram IDs for a sometime as the Meta apps faced outages in India and other regions on Tuesday evening.
Users said that they had been abruptly logged out of both platforms and encountering difficulties in refreshing their feeds. Additionally, many encountered prompts urging them to reset their passwords.
The disruption sparked a flurry of complaints on social media platforms, with users venting their frustrations over the unexpected downtime.
Messages such as “Log in again; session expired; couldn’t refresh feed” started getting flashed in the mobile and computer screens during the outage.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, the outage affected a significant number of users, with over 300,000 reports of Facebook outages and more than 20,000 reports for Instagram.
The website aggregates outage reports from various sources, including user submissions, providing a comprehensive overview of service disruptions, a report on LiveMint said.
The outage prompted hundreds of users to turn to the microblogging site Twitter to voice their concerns and seek updates on the situation.
