Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is arriving here in Agartala on December 20 to attend the 72nd edition of the NEC plenary session to be hosted by Tripura for the first time. The Chief Minister was speaking to the media persons at Ujjayanta Palace, Agartala during his inspection visit.
Some events of the NEC plenary session are scheduled to be organised at the palace which is also the state museum. “All of you must know that the 72nd NEC plenary session will be hosted by Tripura. Given that Union Home Minister Amit Shah who is also the chairman of NEC is also arriving to attend the meeting. Besides that, CMs, Deputy CMs and Governors of all North Eastern States will also attend the crucial meeting where policy level decisions for developments are discussed and approved for a year.”
The Chief Minister said he would also visit the places where accommodation arrangements will be made. “I am glad our state has been allowed to host the prestigious meeting. Initially, some places were finalised for holding the events and now final level preparation is underway. A meeting of the North East Space Application Centre will also be organised on the same day,” he added.
When asked about the threats being issued by Bangladesh, Dr Saha said, “I have already spoken a lot on the issue. Let them bark. We shouldn’t forget that the clouds that cause thunder seldom offer rain.”
On meeting Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani and his son in Mumbai, the Chief Minister said, “I have invited them to come over here and make some investments. They have assured me that a team from Reliance Industries will soon visit Tripura to assess investment potential. If big groups like Reliance invest in Tripura, the unemployment problem could be mitigated greatly.”
