Agartala: The opposition INDIA bloc in Tripura has decided to hold joint campaign in all sixty assembly segments of the state to effectively disseminate their political message among the voters.
CPIM leader Jitendra Choudhury said that the joint committees have been constituted in the district and subdivision levels and now rallies would be conducted in all sixty assembly constituencies.
“We have decided to hold rallies in all sixty assembly segments in the light of the formation of a well-functioning organizational structure of the INDIA bloc right from the top to bottom level. The rallies will play a crucial role to make sure that our message reaches the voters effectively,” added the CPIM leader.
He also informed that INDIA bloc’s East Tripura constituency candidate Rajendra Reang will file nomination papers on April 01 next.
Opposition Congress, also a key constituent of the INDIA grouping, meanwhile, alleged that the administration denied permission for the proposed rally which was supposed to be addressed by former JNU students’ union president and Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
Interacting with media persons, in the sidelines of a meeting of the INDIA bloc’s campaigning committee, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “A rally was proposed at Agartala to mark the nomination submission of the INDIA bloc candidates and Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar gave his consent to address the people of Tripura. To our utter dismay, the administration didn’t allow us to hold the public meeting. We haven’t received the necessary clearances from the Public Works Department (PWD), Electricity Department and other line departments. We were barred from constructing a podium for our speakers.”
According to the Congress leader, voters of the state are ready to put the “self styled double engine government” out of gear in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
“BJP’s defeat is inevitable. The response of people that we are receiving in the ground is unprecedented. I call upon people to come forward and support us to restore the democracy in the country,” said Barman.
