Agartala: Former Tripura Chief Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday said that the ensuing Lok Sabha elections that he is contesting would be a “test of his past performance” initially as the president of the party and later as the Chief Minister of the state. Deb has been fielded as the party candidate from West Tripura parliamentary constituency for these elections.
Speaking at an organizational meeting of the party leaders, Deb said, “I am very eager to know how people evaluate Biplab Kumar Deb based on his performance as a BJP worker and later as a Chief Minister. Voters should cast their votes considering what I have done for them while holding the top office in the state.”
Instructing the party activists to stay away from all sorts of coercive activities, Deb said, “Never misbehave with people. Abstain from issuing threats to the people who subscribe to the ideology of rival political parties. Supporters of all parties will exist forever. This is the nature of politics. Follow what Prime Minister Modi said. Doesn’t matter who is the person in front of you, go to him, tell him that you are a representative of PM Modi, and seek his blessings for the party.”
Deb also made a simple addition to the PM prescribed way and said, “When you people will campaign for me, please add a couple of lines. You just say that ‘Dada’ also seeks your blessings. You will see the difference when the results are out.”
Deb also recalled March 09, 2018, when he was sworn in as the first BJP Chief Minister of Tripura.
“Today is the day when the biggest ever swearing-in ceremony in the history of Tripura was organized at the Assam Rifle ground at Agartala. That was the day when the first cabinet of Tripura assumed charge,” Deb added.
