Agartala: Tripura Police has registered a specific case in connection with international cricketer Mayank Agarwal’s sudden deboarding from a plane owing to some medical complications.
He was rushed to ILS hospital Agartala with swelling and oral irritation that developed after he consumed a liquid mistaken for water, said Kiran Kumar, SP West Tripura district.
He said, “He (Agarwal) was returning to his state after a match with Tripura. He noticed a bottle of water in front of him and consumed it. Actually, the liquid substance inside the bottle was not water. This is why he had experienced swelling on his mouth. He is stable right now under the observation of doctors at ILS”.
The senior police officer also informed EastMojo that a case was registered according to a complaint and investigation is being carried out to find out whether there was something intentional behind it or not.
The flight in which Agarwal was supposed to return home is operated by noted air carrier company “IndiGo”. According to a statement issued by the hospital authorities, Agarwal was suffering from oral irritation.
“This evening (Tuesday), cricketer Mr. Mayank Agarwal was transported from the MBB Airport Agartala to ILS Hospitals Agartala. He was experiencing some oral irritation and swelling on his lips after being assessed by the consultants of the hospital in an emergency, he was admitted.
For now he’s clinically stable and is being constantly clinically monitored,” the hospital statement added.
Noteworthy here, Agarwal, a top order batter who represents Karnataka in the domestic cricket arrived here in Tripura to play against Tripura in the Ranji group matches. Under his leadership Karnataka eked out a 29 runs victory over the hosts in a low scoring cricketing encounter.
