Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the North East Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued minors and women during recent checking drives conducted from February 6-8 across various trains and railway stations in the region.
In January, the RPF rescued 41 minor boys and girls along with 6 women, leading to the arrest of two human traffickers. The rescued individuals were promptly handed over to respective Child Line, NGOs, parents, and the Government Railway Police (GRP) for their safety and well-being.
In a notable incident on 7th February 2024, the RPF staff at Rangapara North Railway station rescued two runaway minors accompanied by a lady. Simultaneously, at New Coochbehar station, another minor girl was rescued by the RPF staff. All rescued minors and the lady were handed over to the GRP and an NGO in Coochbehar for further assistance.

Further efforts on 6th February 2024 led to the rescue of 3 minors from Alipurduar Jn., New Bongaigaon, and Dharmanagar railway stations respectively. These rescued minors were later handed over to Childline authorities and reunited with their parents for proper care and protection.
On 8th February 2024, the RPF team at Chaparmukh Railway station rescued a runaway lady, demonstrating their commitment to ensuring the safety of all railway passengers. Additionally, the “Meri Saheli” team of N.F. Railway continues to provide assistance to women passengers traveling alone on trains.
