Tezpur Uni staff begin training under Rashtriya Karmayogi programme

Tezpur University has rolled out its first training programme under the Rashtriya Karmayogi – Large Scale Jan Seva initiative, aimed at strengthening the skills of employees and equipping them with essential competencies for the 21st century.

The programme, notified by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is mandatory for all regular teaching and non-teaching employees of the university. It is part of the Mission Karmayogi framework launched by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) to promote citizen-centric, empathetic and service-oriented governance through capacity building at scale.

Inaugurating the programme, Vice Chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh said the initiative would transform the way the university community functions as a team.

He said the university is not only a centre for education and research but also a service provider, and therefore it is important for staff to continuously upgrade their skills, embrace a culture of service excellence, and maintain an efficient governance system.

To prepare for the roll-out, six officials of the university—Prof. R. R. Hoque, Dean, Academic Affairs; Prof. D. C. Baruah, Dean, School of Multidisciplinary Studies; Prof. Joya Chakraborty, Proctor; Dr. Braja Bandhu Mishra, Finance Officer; Aniket Chattopadhyay, Deputy Registrar; and Jadab Chandra Nath, Executive Engineer—completed the Master Trainers’ programme at Guwahati last week. They will now lead the implementation of the Karmayogi programme on campus.

The training includes modules on finance, recruitment, administration, service rules and public service delivery, among other areas.
