Imphal: Remembering his school days, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh was recently seen flip-flapping a football like a professional footballer ahead of a soccer match played at Manipur’s Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.

CM Singh attractively displayed his soccer skills on the ground during a friendly match between the Chief Minister’s XI and Chief Secretary’s XI, played to grace the inauguration of RK Jaichandra Singh Manipur Youth League at Imphal.
Posting a video glimpse of his warm-up practice ahead of the friendly match, Singh in his official twitter account wrote, “Old habits die hard! Had a feel of the football just before the match between the CM’s 11 and CS’s 11 at the floodlighted Khuman Lampak stadium today”.
Helping his team to open their account, Singh scored the first goal at the opening match played under floodlights at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Singh tweeted, “I did it ! Scored the 1st goal of the 1st match under floodlight between the Chief Minister’s 11 and the Chief Secretary’s 11 at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium”.

Remembering his student life, Singh, in a subsequent tweet, expressed that he played a hearty game after decades. He also expressed his happiness to get the honour of playing the first match played under floodlight at Khuman Lampak Stadium.
“Just like the old times, played the most hearty game after decades, the first football match in a floodlighted Khuman Lampak Main Stadium between the Chief Minister’s 11 and the Chief Secretary’s 11”, he tweeted.

Singh, while attending the first match played under floodlights at the stadium, termed the inaugural day of RK Jaichandra Singh Manipur Youth League as a ‘red letter’ day in the history of Manipur football.
