Kohima: The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) held a Special General Body Meeting on Saturday at the Conference Hall of the NFA Office in Merhulietsa Colony, Kohima.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 14 affiliated District Football Associations and was chaired by NFA President K Neibou Sekhose.
During the meeting, Sekhose presented detailed reports on various football activities and achievements, including the Nagaland Super League (NSL), the 24th Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Championship, the National Futsal Championship, and the selection of two players from state champions Aphuyemi FC for the National Futsal Team camp.
He also highlighted the successful hosting of the Dr T Ao Junior Girls National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier-2), the first national-level football tournament hosted by Nagaland.
Urging all affiliated district football associations to strictly adhere to the rules and regulations of the association as mandated by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Constitution, the NFA president called for preparedness in view of upcoming structural and administrative changes.
Sekhose emphasised the importance of strengthening grassroots football development across the state, with a special focus on training junior teams, upgrading coaching standards, and improving the quality of referees. He also underscored the need to prioritise the development of junior girls’ and women’s football, along with the effective implementation of CRS/CMS in Nagaland.
The meeting also discussed plans to commence the second edition of the Nagaland Super League in early 2026.
Additionally, Sekhose announced that the NFA will introduce the NFA Awards from next year to recognise individuals and organisations contributing to football development in the state.
The general body approved the constitution of several working committees during the meeting. Presidents and representatives of various District Football Associations shared their views and suggestions during an interactive session.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by NFA Joint Secretary L Shahoto Yimchunger.
The occasion was also marked by the inauguration of the NFA office and the appointment of key office functionaries.
