Kohima: Four individuals were injured on Tuesday after an explosion at the Sangtam Morung in Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, during the ongoing Hornbill Festival.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred while gunpowder was being roasted as part of a traditional demonstration. The blast reportedly happened during the handling of materials used for muzzle-loading displays.
A tribal leader confirmed that the injured were Konyak men who had been engaged by the Union to manage the muzzle-loading gun and locally produced gunpowder. Injuries initially appeared minor and no tourists were affected.

The four men were first taken to the emergency medical facility at Kisama before being shifted to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) for further treatment.
Updated reports indicate that one of the individuals sustained major burn injuries and requires specialised medical care. The remaining three suffered minor to moderate burns. All four are currently under medical supervision at NHAK.
