Kangpokpi: At least four persons belonging to the Naga community were reportedly killed in an alleged ambush by suspected Kuki armed group in Kangpokpi district on Thursday.
According to police sources, the incident reportedly took place around 8:30 am between Makui Ashang and Thanamba Naga in Kangpokpi district, an area that serves as a vital lifeline for Naga communities living along the IT Road.
The alleged ambush took place when the Naga civilians were travelling through the area, leaving four people dead, one injured and one person missing.
The four deceased have been identified as Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, Mariakdibou Wijunamai, Anil Wijunamai and Japou MK.
The injured person has been identified as Gaikamang Ringkangmai, while Wisobou Charenamai was reported missing.
Following the renewed violence, the situation in the IT Road area has reportedly remained tense. The fresh tension comes amid the state government’s efforts to end the prolonged conflict and bring peace to Manipur.
So far, no official statement regarding the incident from the police or other security agencies is available.
