Aizawl: In the aftermath of heavy rainfall and hailstorms wreaking havoc in Serchhip District, Deputy Commissioner David Lalthantluanga took proactive steps by conducting an early morning inspection in Thenzawl town, Mizoram.
The inspection aimed to assess the extent of the damage caused to residential properties in the area.
During the inspection, it was found that twelve homes in Thenzawl town had suffered varying degrees of damage. Homes belonging to residents including Lalawmpuii, Zohmangaihi, Neinunga, and Lalhmingmawii, had suffered severe damage, while six other houses in the vicinity were partially affected. Similarly, in Thenzawl Venghlun, six houses bore partial damage due to the adverse weather conditions.
Responding to the situation, David Lalthantluanga allocated a sum of Rs. 1,20,000 from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to households that incurred complete damage to their properties. Furthermore, financial aid from the SDRF was extended to homes with partial damage, with the amount varying depending on the degree of the inflicted damage.

Reports also emerged of structural damages in Thinglian Village and Vanchengte, underscoring the widespread impact of the adverse weather conditions.
In Serchhip town, Additional Deputy Commissioner James Lalnithanga took charge of distributing financial assistance to two households that had suffered partial damages, demonstrating a concerted effort by the local administration to alleviate the plight of affected residents.
