Aizawl: Mizoram Police’s Special Operation Team, part of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) (SB), successfully apprehended three individuals associated with the HPC-D (Lalhmingthanga Sanate faction).
The arrested persons were identified as Zarzova (47) s/o Tlangkhuma from Mauchar, Lalropianga (38) s/o Lalengliana hailing from Thingpuikual, Manipur, and Lalmuankima (34) s/o Thangmawia from Mauchar.
Their arrest, which took place on March 25, 2024, at Saipum village in Kolasib district, was on grounds of suspected involvement in extorting money from non-local traders travelling between the NEEPCO/Tuirial Hydel Project and Mauchar village in Aizawl District.
The operation led to the registration of Sakawrdai Police Station Case No. 5/24 dated March 23, 2024, under sections 397/395/341/34 IPC against the apprehended individuals.
Prior to this operation, Zarzova had encountered legal trouble when he was found in possession of 324 grams of heroin by the Excise & Narcotics department at ‘Ralbawm ram’, situated approximately 8 kilometres from Bukpui in Kolasib district, on 20th March 2021.

Subsequently, he was arrested on the same day, resulting in the registration of NDPS Case No. A/O SC(K) No. 15/21 under section 21(c). However, due to health issues, Zarzova was released on bail on 15th September 2021.
Despite his release, Zarzova’s legal ordeal continued. The Kolasib Fast Track Court issued a judgment order on April 8, 2024, sentencing Zarzova to 10 years of imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 1,00,000 in connection with the aforementioned drug trafficking case.
