The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has been ranked among the top 200 universities in India for the third consecutive time in four years. The prestigious ranking has been announced by the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, in the 9th edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024.
The NIRF 2024 ranks the higher education institutes in India on the basis of various criteria including teaching-learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity, and perception. USTM is the only private university in the entire Northeast region to achieve this feat for the third consecutive year.
This year the rankings have been introduced for three new categories of universities – open universities, skill universities, and state-funded government universities. The AICTE chairperson, Anil Sahasrabudhe, also announced the launch of the Ministry’s initiative for sustainability rankings, which will start next year.
The list of top 200 universities in India for the 3rd consecutive year is as follows: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati 9th, Gauhati University 57th, National Institute of Technology Silchar 92nd, Assam University Silchar, Dibrugarh University, Mizoram University, and Tezpur University among 101-150 Rank-band, Manipur University and North East Hill University are ranked 151-200.
