Kangpokpi: A significant consignment of liquor seized in connection with the 18th Lok Sabha election 2024 was destroyed in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, on Wednesday, an official informed.
Mangkhojang Haokip, the officer-in-charge of Sapormneina Excise station, reported that various brands of excisable articles, including Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and illicit country liquor (DIC), were confiscated under the relevant Act and provisions of the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act 1991 by the excise team and police of Kangpokpi district.
Under the supervision of the commissioner of excise, the excise enforcement team, along with the police, oversaw the destruction of approximately 3,579 liters of country liquor (DIC) and 99.17 liters of IMFL.

The seized liquor was destroyed in the presence of Kangpokpi police, members of the media, and the public around 12 pm.
The estimated local market value of the destroyed liquor is approximately Rs 4,11,302, added the officer.
