Kamjong: Four civilians, including a father-son duo, were reportedly killed in an attack at Pilong, a border village in Manipur’s Kamjong district, on Thursday, according to sources.
The deceased have been identified as Vareishim Jajo of Kangpat Khullen; his son, Phami Jajo; Betterson Jajo of Kangpat Khunou; and Ningthem Kashak of Zingsui village.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 1:30 pm when suspected cadres of the Kuki National Army-B (KNA-B) allegedly attacked Pilong, a remote Tangkhul Naga village located near international border pillars 91 to 93.
Four civilians present in the village were reportedly killed in the attack.
A team from Kamjong Police reportedly rushed to the site to recover the bodies and initiate an investigation. However, there was no official confirmation or statement from the police or security agencies regarding the incident at the time of publication.
The incident marks a fresh outbreak of violence in the border district after a period of relative calm.
In May, suspected Myanmar-based militants, allegedly linked to the KNA-B, carried out coordinated pre-dawn attacks on Tangkhul Naga border villages, including Namlee, Wanglee and Choro. The attacks reportedly resulted in several houses being burnt and forced residents to flee to nearby forests for safety.
