A video clip of a Manipur mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the state and restore peace has surfaced on social media.
The video shows fighter Chungreng Koren speaking out against the ongoing violence in Manipur. He said that violence has been plaguing the state for almost a year now, resulting in hundreds of deaths and a shortage of food and water at relief camps.
Koren said that children are not able to study properly due to the ongoing violence, and the future of the state is currently unknown. He appealed to Prime Minister Modi to visit the state once and restore peace in Manipur.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has not yet issued an official statement in response to the appeal.
