Kohima: Isak-Muivah led NSCN-IM on Friday questioned if the Government of India (GoI) is trying to incite “communal war” between the Nagas and the Meiteis in Manipur.
“Is the government of India trying to incite communal war between the Meiteis and the Nagas?” NSCN-IM questioned. The group made the statement as they condemned the setting up of the UNLF (MPA)’s designated camp in the “Naga territory”.
Following the peace agreement between the Government of India and UNLF (Pambei), the NSCN-IM said that it has been closely monitoring the developments with keen interest.
The group said that as their primary responsibility, NSCN-IM is dedicated to safeguarding the rights, well-being, and territorial integrity of the Nagas, along with defending against external threats.
NSCN-IM expressed its strong opposition to the establishment of a UNLF (MPA) designated camp in Naga territory in Manipur. The setting up of such a camp without the consent or knowledge of the Naga public was viewed as a reckless intrusion.
“UNLF designated camp in Naga territory must be shifted immediately,” NSCN-IM said.
The group compared that when GoI and NSCN-IM signed the ceasefire to process the political talks, it was formally discussed, and arrangements were done accordingly with regards to setting up of designated camps.

However, in the case of GoI and UNLF, they alleged that setting up designated camps was handled in a haphazard manner without considering the geopolitical sentiment.
“All these confusions should be done away with lest undesirable consequences arise,” NSCN-IM said.
